My specialty is the western and southern Caribbean — particularly adult-focused sailings where the ship itself is part of the experience, not just transport between ports.

Two primary lines. Both chosen because I've sailed them — not because someone handed me a brochure.

Adults-only. All-inclusive dining across 20+ restaurants on every ship. No kids, no loud pool parties you didn't sign up for. Virgin operates a tight fleet of stunning ships — Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady, and Brilliant Lady — purpose-built for exactly this market. I'm a First Mate certified agent, which means I know this line better than most.

Best for: couples, friend groups, bachelorettes, anyone who wants the adults-only experience without sacrificing quality.

Premium-upscale, with the Edge Series ships as the standout for Caribbean itineraries. Celebrity strikes a balance that's hard to find: sophisticated enough to feel like a genuine upgrade, but not so stuffy that you feel like you have to dress for dinner every night. The Infinite Verandas and resort-style pool deck on Edge ships are legitimately excellent.

Best for: couples and groups who want premium service and design without the ultra-luxury price point.

Aruba

One of the most consistent weather destinations in the Caribbean — outside the hurricane belt, with near-constant trade winds and white sand beaches. Eagle Beach is genuinely one of the best in the world.

Bonaire

A diver's paradise and one of the more offbeat ABC Islands. If your group wants snorkeling, the visibility here is exceptional. Quieter and less touristy than Aruba or Curaçao.

Curaçao

Colorful colonial architecture, great local food, and a distinct Dutch Caribbean culture. Willemstad's waterfront is one of the most photogenic port stops in the entire Caribbean.

St. Maarten

Two countries on one island — French and Dutch sides, two different vibes. Shopping, beaches, and one of the most dramatic airport landings you'll ever witness from the beach.

Private Islands

Virgin Voyages has The Beach Club at Bimini. Royal Caribbean has Perfect Day at CocoCay. Private island stops have gotten dramatically better — and they're worth factoring into your itinerary choice.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

A frequent homeport and port of call — historic Old San Juan is beautiful, walkable, and genuinely interesting. One of the better cruise ports for actually leaving the ship and exploring.
